RCR Tiki

Both models hold 45 cl. That sounds generous, but a tiki drink takes a lot of ice: count on roughly half crushed ice, which leaves a normal serving of around 20 cl. Etruria and Sardinia differ in their relief and in the packaging, with Etruria coming in fours and Sardinia in sixes. If you are after the classic opaque mugs instead, you will find them under tiki glasses; for the size that suits a specific serve, the models are grouped under mai tai glasses. Fill the glass with crushed ice to just below the rim and pour the mixed drink over it; the ice settles by itself and you are left with a cold, layered serve. For a mai tai you float dark rum on top, while a pina colada should be poured thick and blended with less ice so it does not turn watery. For a zombie, 45 cl is on the tight side if you follow the full recipe, so pour with care there and keep the ice coarse.

RCR makes the Tiki line from Luxion, a lead-free crystal glass that is clearer than ordinary glass and handles machine washing better than traditional lead crystal. The relief does hold on to residue: do not leave sugary cocktails with syrup or fruit juice standing for hours, because the deposit then settles into the grooves. Rinse the glass briefly with cold water after use and only then put it in the machine. A soft-bristled brush removes whatever stays behind in the deeper parts.

If you want a flatter shape for the same drink, or a coupe you serve from without ice, take a look at the cocktail glasses. For the tall, curved tulip shape that suits many tropical serves, the models are gathered under the hurricane glasses.
