First, consider where the display will go. For the back wall, there are LED bottle shelves in 60, 90, and 120 cm lengths. You screw them into place, and your bottles sit in a single row with light from below. Looking for a drinks display for the bar itself? Then the illuminated bottle displays with two or three tiers are more practical. The bottles sit on stepped levels, so they aren’t hidden behind one another. With the remote-control version, you can adjust the color and brightness without having to crawl behind the bar. For tastings and sampling events, choose wood. The tasting display caddy holds glasses and a bottle together. The 34 cm tasting board keeps the glasses evenly spaced. For the shop floor, there’s a presentation column and a cardboard display from the Speakeasy range. They’re available in a version for glassware and one for cocktail tools.

A display works best when it tells one story. Line up bottles from a single category on a lit shelf, such as all your gin. Guests can see at a glance what they can choose from. Mix everything together and it becomes wallpaper. For a tasting, use the tasting board to set the order. The lightest glass on the left, the heaviest on the right, and your guest tastes from left to right. Don’t put the bottles you reach for most often behind the bar in the display. Otherwise, you’ll keep breaking up the arrangement. Those belong on the speed rail. Save the prime spot for the bottles you use to make a Negroni or a Old Fashioned .

The illuminated shelves and tiered displays are made of acrylic, with an LED strip underneath. Acrylic scratches more easily than glass. Wipe it with a soft microfiber cloth. An abrasive sponge or an alcohol-based cleaner will make the surface cloudy over time. Keep everything electrical dry, and wipe up spilled syrup immediately before it runs under the shelf. The wooden tasting board and the caddy are not dishwasher-safe. Wipe them with a damp cloth and leave them flat until dry so the wood does not warp. A cardboard display is intended for a temporary promotion and will last one season.
