Arcoroc Bourbon

Choose according to what you are pouring. The 32 cl whisky glass is wide enough for a large chunk of ice and leaves enough air above the drink to catch the aroma; that is the glass for bourbon, rye, rum and stirred cocktails. The 36 cl long drink glass is taller and narrower and intended for whisky with cola or ginger ale, where the narrow shape holds the carbonation longer. The 6 cl shot glass is roomier than the standard measure and therefore also works for a small liqueur after dinner.

Pour whisky neat to about two fingers high and no more, because air has to stay above the drink for the aroma to gather in. If you want to dilute it, do so with a few drops of water rather than with ice; that opens up the flavour without the temperature collapsing. In the same glass you stir an old fashioned with sugar, bitters and a strip of orange peel. For a cuba libre you take the long drink glass and fill it with ice first.

Arcoroc tempers its glass by cooling it rapidly after forming, which puts the wall under tension. That makes the range more resistant to knocks and to sudden temperature changes, which counts above all when you fill glasses straight from the dishwasher with ice while they are still warm. The thick base is pressed solid rather than hollow, so no water is left standing in it.
