NUDE Glass Climats

The size determines how much surface area the wine has to capture air. The 39 cl bowl is the narrowest and keeps fresh aromas together, making it pleasant for white wine and light reds. The 50 cl is the medium size that can hold almost anything. The 64 cl is intended for full-bodied red wines: pinot noir, nebbiolo, an older bordeaux.

Pour into all three up to the widest point of the bowl and no higher. With the 64 cl, that is about one-fifth of the capacity, which feels frugal. That is the intention, because the empty space above captures the aroma. The rest of the range is at NUDE Glass glasses.

Hold the glass by the stem. Not out of etiquette, but because a warm hand heats chilled wine within minutes, and with this thin wall it happens quickly. Swirl with the glass on the table: a short rotation of the base releases the aromas without spilling.

Serve white wine at around 10 degrees and red wine at around 16. A sangria should not be poured into these glasses, but into a large glass with ice, because fruit and ice cubes can damage the thin rim. For each type of wine, the shapes are shown with the red wine glasses and the white wine glasses.

Lead-free crystal glass is clearer and thinner than ordinary glass because it contains other oxides instead of lead. That makes it vulnerable in one place: the transition from stem to bowl. NUDE Glass draws that transition from a single piece, stronger than an attached stem, but care still pays off.

The series is dishwasher safe on a short glassware programme. Place the glasses apart, do not let them rest against cutlery and dry them afterwards with a lint-free cloth.

If you're looking for a wider bowl or a smaller one, you'll find the complete overview under the wine glasses, sorted by shape and capacity. If you want to help a young red wine open up faster than it can in the glass alone, take a look at the decanters. And if you're looking for the recipe rather than the glass, you'll find the proportions and corresponding glass for each classic on the cocktail pages .
