RCR Oasis

Start by looking at what goes into them most often. Water, juice and soft drinks fit the 25 cl tumbler; if you want room for ice, the 32 cl is the better size. Whisky neat or over a block goes in those same tumblers. For gin and tonic and anything with plenty of ice, the 36 cl long drink glass is the one. The 22 cl mug has a handle and is for coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Wine is poured from the bowls of 23 or 29 cl, and for bubbles there is a flute of 16 cl. The wider range is at the water glasses.

Fill a tumbler to about two fingers below the rim, so you can pick it up without spilling. Put the 123 cl jug on the table with ice and a slice of lemon; that saves walking back and forth during the meal. The 85 cl whiskey decanter is meant for a bottle you will finish within a few weeks, because a decanter seals less well than a bottle. The 1 litre wine carafe is for giving a young red some air before you pour.

Oasis is made of Luxion, the lead-free crystal glass of RCR. It is clearer and harder than ordinary glass, which keeps the ribbing crisp and makes the rim slower to chip. The glasses can go in the dishwasher; stand them upright and not inside one another, because stacking causes scratches and suction. Clean the narrow-necked carafes with a brush and leave them upside down to drain.
