Luigi Bormioli Incanto

Incanto is a compact range, and the dimensions reflect that. The 27.5 cl wine glass is small by contemporary standards and is best suited to white wine and to a table where you regularly top up glasses. If you're looking for a bowl that gives red wine plenty of room, you're more likely to choose the wider models among the white wine glasses or a larger range. The 20 cl flute is narrow and tall. The 43.5 cl long drink glass has a straight wall that keeps ice neatly in place; similar shapes can be found among the long drink glasses.

Fill the flute to approximately 12 cl and pour it in two stages, allowing the foam to settle in between. The highball glass is the right shape for a gin and tonic with plenty of ice: first fill the glass completely with ice, then pour, so the drink cools faster and the ice melts much more slowly. For a French 75 use the flute instead, because the lemon and gin stay together in it.

SON.hyx is heat-treated, which gives the rim and the stem more resistance to knocks than ordinary glass. The glasses are dishwasher resistant and keep their clarity: they do not turn milky white after dozens of wash cycles, which cheaper soda-lime glass does. Do not place the flutes against each other in the rack, because the narrow rim remains the weak point even in this material.

The brand's full range is available at Luigi Bormioli. If the 27.5 cl wine glass is too small, you'll find larger bowls among the large wine glasses. Looking for a stemless glass for whisky or a cocktail on the rocks? You'll find a wider selection among the tumbler glasses. And if you only want glasses for sparkling wine, take a look at the champagne flute glasses.
