The 17 centilitre is a low tumbler for spirits neat or a small nip, and doubles as an amuse-bouche glass on the table. The 30 centilitre is the classic whisky format: room enough for a large block of ice and still comfortable in the hand. The 43 centilitre is the long drink for anything with ice and a mixer, where you count on about a third ice and top up with the mixer above it. If you are looking more broadly, you will find comparable models under the whiskey glasses and the long drink glasses.

In a ribbed glass, large ice works better than crushed: a single block melts more slowly and leaves the ribs visible. Add the ice first, then the spirit and only then the mixer, so you do not have to stir and the fizz stays put. In the 30 centilitre you build an Old Fashioned straight in the glass. The 43 centilitre takes a Gin & Tonic with room for botanicals. Measure the spirit with a jigger if you want to pour consistently.

Luxion is harder than ordinary soda-lime glass and keeps its shine longer, even after hundreds of machine washes. The glasses can go in the dishwasher on a normal programme. Do dose the rinse aid sparingly, because an excess settles in the ribs and makes the pattern dull rather than bright. For hand washing, lukewarm water with a little soap is enough, since hot water dulls the crystal faster.

If you want the same Luxion quality but in a smooth shape without ribs, take a look at the other series by RCR. If what you mainly need is a stack of simple everyday glasses, the tumbler glasses are a broader starting point with more sizes. And if you specifically want the low shape with a thick base to pour over ice, those are gathered under the old fashioned glasses.
