Start with the drink that goes into it most often. For jenever, grappa or a shot, choose the 5 cl shot glass, which you fill to the rim without it looking odd. The 24.8 and 32 cl tumblers are meant for water, soft drinks and shorts on the rocks, with the larger size leaving room for three ice cubes. The 40 cl whisky glass is the wide version with a thick base. For mixed drinks, take the long drink glasses of 34.7 or 49 cl, and for lager there is a 31 cl beer glass.

An old fashioned belongs in the 40 cl whisky glass, stirred over a large block of ice with a strip of orange peel squeezed over it. The 15.5 cl cocktail glass is meant for shaken drinks served without ice. Put that glass in the freezer a quarter of an hour beforehand, because without ice in the glass the chill you put into it is the only thing keeping the drink cold.

Place them apart from each other in the rack, because two thick bases knocking together will still cause a crack.
