Arcoroc Savoie

Size decides almost everything here. A 15 or 19 cl glass is filled to the top and drunk quickly, which works for young white wine and for rosé that has to stay cold. At 24.5 cl you get room to pour half full, so the wine catches air and you can really smell it. The 35 cl is the only size you can seriously use for red wine: fill it to a third and you keep enough space to swirl. The 17 cl flute stands apart from the rest and is meant for sparkling wine.

Serve white wine cold but not ice cold, somewhere between seven and nine degrees, because below that the aroma disappears. Hold the glass by the foot and your hand won't warm the wine. A Kir Royal works just as well in the 17 cl flute as straight champagne does, because the narrow shape holds on to the bubbles. For something lighter on the table, pour sangria into the largest size, with plenty of room for the fruit.

The Savoie is made of plain clear glass rather than crystal glass, which means the bowl is a little thicker and the foot less prone to snapping. Every size is dishwasher safe. Rinse with clean water afterwards and let them drain upside down on a cloth, otherwise you get drying marks that are hard to polish out later.
