The size follows the wine. For white wine and young reds you take 35 cl, in which a normal pour stays well below the widest point. For more mature reds you end up at 47 or 58 cl, and the 70 cl balloon and the 75 cl tulip give heavy wines real room to open up. Pour up to the widest point of the bowl and no higher. In a 47 cl glass that is about a third, and the empty space above it does the work: that is where the aroma gathers before you smell it. Hold the glass by the stem, because the bowl warms up faster than you would think.

The 16 cl flute holds the bubbles for a long time and is the logical choice for a kir royal. The 30 cl coupe releases more aroma instead and suits a bellini well.

Krysta is made to be washed often. The glasses are dishwasher-safe and the rim is reinforced, which is exactly where breakage starts in a busy bar. Use a short glassware programme and rinse afterwards with soft water, otherwise you will see a limescale veil on the bowl.

Put the glasses away upright once dry. Resting on the rim deforms it over time, and stems standing against each other are the most common cause of damage in the cupboard.
