Pornstar martini glasses

The workable size sits between 20 and 26 cl. The recipe comes out at around twelve centilitres, so in a 20 cl bowl it stands full and in a 33 cl bowl it looks stingy. If you go for a coupe, you want a shape with a rim that turns slightly inwards: it carries the passion fruit and holds the foam together. A classic martini bowl with a straight V shape works too, although the fruit slides towards the middle faster there.

After that you choose on stability. Coupes have a low centre of gravity and tip over less easily than a pointed martini bowl, which matters at a busy party. Nick and Nora glasses of 15.5 cl are the nicest option if you prefer to pour smaller and top up more often. Watch the stem as well: a thicker stem is less elegant but survives the dishwasher better, and for a cocktail that crosses the bar twenty times an evening that is the deciding factor.

Chill the glass for five minutes in the freezer or fill it with ice and water while you shake. The cocktail goes into the glass without ice, so all the cold must come from the glass and the shaker. Discard the ice water, shake the glass dry, and only then strain into it. A chilled glass keeps the cocktail at temperature noticeably longer than a room-temperature glass, which makes a difference of a few extra minutes of drinking pleasure for twelve centiliters served without ice.

Shake a pornstar martini hard and briefly with vanilla vodka, passion fruit purée, lime juice, and sugar syrup, then double-strain so no seeds get through. Place the passion fruit half rounded side down on the foam and set the shot of prosecco beside it, not in it. The same coupe can then be used for an espresso martini or a dry martini, with the latter stirred instead of shaken.

Stemmed cocktail glasses almost always break in the same place: where the bowl meets the stem. That rarely happens while pouring and nearly always in the dishwasher rack, where stems knock against each other. Give them room and use a compartment rack if you wash a lot at once.

Passion fruit and lime leave acid behind that eventually dulls the glass, so rinse them briefly before they go into the machine. Store them bowl up so the rim rests on nothing, because a damaged rim is the end of the road for a glass your lips run along. Polish afterwards with a lint-free cloth while the glass is still lukewarm.

Looking for a different shape for the same cocktail? You'll find them next to each other. The classic V-shaped martini glasses have their own page, as do the wider champagne coupe glasses and the smaller Nick and Nora glasses. Pour the accompanying shot of prosecco from a small shot glass. If you already have the glassware but are missing the shaker, fine-mesh strainer, and measuring cup, take a look at the cocktail shakers, which also include complete bar sets. And if you want to see the entire menu at a glance instead of a single recipe, all the proportions are listed on the cocktail pages.
