De Kuyper Vieux
Dutch vieux from Schiedam, made with real French brandy. Full and round at 35%: neat in a small glass, with cola over ice, or as a shot at a get-together.

Vieux with a French heart
Vieux is the Dutch counterpart to brandy: a smooth, amber-colored drink that used to be found in every café. De Kuyper Vieux is made with real French brandy, giving it a distinctive character and a naturally full flavor.
At 35% alcohol, it's De Kuyper's strongest bottle and the opposite of the sweet fruit liqueurs from the same distillery. It comes in a one-liter bottle because vieux is a drink for a get-together or a party. De Kuyper itself calls it a drink to mix or enjoy as a shot; of course, you can also drink it neat at room temperature.
In brief
Full, round and warm
Caramel and grape
A warm aroma of caramel and dried fruit, with the soft grape notes of brandy.
Full-bodied and smooth
Round and slightly sweet, with caramel and a touch of oak. Smooth enough to drink neat.
Warm and medium-length
A warm finish where the 35% alcohol makes itself felt for a moment, followed by sweet oak.
Flavor profile of De Kuyper Vieux neat at room temperature. With cola, the caramel really comes through.
Three ways to drink vieux
Vieux is a Dutch liqueur enjoyed as a digestif: neat, as a shot, or in a long drink with cola. Each way calls for a different glass.
Neat at room temperature
4 cl in a small cognac glass or liqueur glass, without ice. Warm the glass in your hand to bring out the caramel and brandy.
Cognac glasses →Vieux and cola
50 ml vieux with 150 ml cola in a tumbler or long drink glass filled with ice. A Dutch café classic, and the reason the bottle is a liter.
Tumblers →As a shot
3 cl vieux in a shot glass, at room temperature or slightly chilled. That’s how De Kuyper recommends drinking it, as well as mixing it.
Shot glasses →Brandy cocktails with vieux
Vieux isn’t cognac, but thanks to its French brandy, you can use it in brandy classics. Expect a smoother, sweeter version.

Boilermaker
A drink with a beer on the side. Vieux makes it warmer and sweeter than genever.
Sidecar
Brandy, triple sec, and lemon. Made with vieux and De Kuyper Triple Sec for a Schiedam-style version.
Brandy Alexander
Brandy, crème de cacao, and cream with nutmeg. A cocktail for dessert.
Hot Toddy
