Sixty-five centiliters is the largest bowl in the Grandioso line, designed for Bordeaux grapes. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot have firm tannins that need time and oxygen before they become smooth.
Tall and wide for firm tannins
The Bordeaux glass is taller than the Burgundy version and tapers toward the rim. This means the wine takes a little longer to reach the edge and lands farther back in the mouth, where tannins feel less astringent. That makes a noticeable difference with a young Cabernet or a full-bodied Merlot. Pour to one-quarter full and give the glass fifteen minutes before tasting seriously.
Six glasses for the better bottle
Large bowls do not always fit in the top rack of a dishwasher, so measure beforehand.
