Choose by the wine you pour most often, not by the cupboard the glass has to fit into. For cabernet and merlot you take the 70.9 cl, a bowl tall enough to give firm tannins room. The Old World Pinot Noir of 73.8 cl and the 80.7 cl for pinot noir, nebbiolo and rosé are deliberately rounded, so lighter reds can release their aroma. White starts with sauvignon blanc at 44 cl and riesling at 40.9 cl; oak-aged chardonnay gets 65.5 cl. If you are specifically after a generous bowl for robust wine, have a look at the large wine glasses.

Do not pour beyond the widest point of the bowl. With the 73.8 cl pinot noir that looks like very little, but it is exactly the empty space above the wine that lets the aroma build. Hold the glass by the stem rather than the bowl, so you do not warm the wine. Fill the 45.9 cl flute and the 31 cl coupe at an angle, along the wall. The 45.9 cl beer glass is meant for craft beer with a full aroma, and the 17 cl liqueur glass for a sweet finish to the meal.

Veritas is wafer-thin and dishwasher safe all the same, provided the glasses do not touch each other in the basket and you run a short programme at a low temperature. The stem is drawn in the same movement as the bowl, so there is no join at the point where glasses normally break. Always pick a glass up by the foot when you take it out of the machine, and polish it afterwards with a lint-free cloth.
