Within Tavoro you mainly choose by capacity. The longdrink glass of 49 cl is roomy enough for a gin and tonic with plenty of ice and a slice of citrus, without the liquid reaching the rim. The 42.2 cl glass is called a whisky glass, but in practice it is a wide tumbler that serves just as well as a water glass. The beer glass of 31.1 cl suits a small draught beer or a craft beer poured in modest servings. The glasses come in sets of four, the water jug separately. Add that jug if you want to set the table in one single style.

Pour a long drink over the ice, not alongside it: the ice starts chilling right away and your drink dilutes more slowly. First fill the glass past halfway with cubes, then add the spirit and only after that the tonic, gently down the inside wall. For whisky the wide glass works best with one large block instead of five small ones, because a big block melts more slowly. An old fashioned is built directly in the glass; for a gin and tonic you stay with the longdrink glass. Beer is poured with the glass tilted, straightening it up for the last few centimetres.

Tavoro is made of Tritan crystal glass, the material Zwiesel Glas builds its ranges on. That glass is clear without any lead and withstands the heat and the wash water of the dishwasher, even after hundreds of cycles. The rim therefore stays smooth for longer and the glass does not turn grey. Place the glasses apart in the rack so they do not touch each other. A dull haze is more often caused by lime in the water than by the glass itself.
