Arcoroc Log

The 16 cl is the small one, right for water at the table, juice at breakfast or for children, since it sits low and wide and therefore stays steady. That size comes in clear, blue, green and orange. The 22 cl is the middle size and the most versatile of the three, at home with soft drinks, water and mixed drinks over ice; you will find it in clear, blue, green and red. The 27 cl comes in clear glass only and is the size that takes a serious amount of ice. Colour here is not decoration but a system: on a laid table it shows at a glance whose glass is whose, and in practice that helps more than it sounds.

A tumbler is a glass without a stem, meant for drinks you want to keep cold without letting them breathe. Water, soft drinks and juice speak for themselves. For spirits the 27 cl is the right choice, because a large block of ice fits in it, and that is exactly what an Old Fashioned turns on: the ice melts slowly and the whisky opens up gradually. A Negroni also belongs in a low glass over ice, though the 22 cl is the better size for that. What you do not put in the Log is a hot drink, because the glass is not heat-resistant.

Log is made of tempered glass, which means it stands up better to knocks and that a breakage falls apart into small, blunt pieces rather than shards. The colour sits in the glass itself and not in a coating on the outside, so it does not disappear in the dishwasher. The entire range is machine-safe. The ribs on the base are the only thing to keep an eye on, because with hard water limescale settles there sooner than on the smooth wall.
